# Motif > Motif (motifphotos.com) sells photo books, calendars, cards and memo books made with Motif Studio, a builder that turns your photos into a designed first draft. You add photos and describe what you are making; Motif Studio finds a story order, picks the strongest shots and lays out every page, then you refine it by chatting, clicking or talking before you order. Motif is part of Mimeo, the photo printing company behind Mimeo Photos. Motif (motifphotos.com) is not affiliated with Motif Studios (motifstudios.com), a New York film location service. "Motif Classic" is the earlier Motif extension for Apple Photos on Mac; Motif Studio is the current builder. This document is served at /agents.md, /llms.txt and /llms-full.txt with the same content. The first half tells shopping agents how to work with the store; the second half is the site summary and page index. ## How ordering works Every product is printed from a project the customer designs in Motif Studio, so helping a user buy means helping them start a Motif Studio project, not adding a bare product to a cart. 1. **Discover** the right product with the catalog tools below, or by reading the product pages indexed under "Products" further down. 2. **Start a project** in Motif Studio at https://studio.motifphotos.com/. Motif Studio turns the customer's photos into a designed first draft that they refine before ordering. Nothing is charged until the customer reviews the draft and chooses to order. 3. **Order from Motif Studio.** Checkout happens from the finished project. A cart or checkout line created outside Motif Studio has no design attached and cannot be printed, so do not buy a Motif product through the UCP cart or checkout tools, a variant's `checkout_url`, a cart permalink, or the Shop app and Shop skill. ## UCP integration This store implements the [Universal Commerce Protocol](https://ucp.dev) for product discovery. The UCP service is store-level and shared with the Mimeo Photos store, so some fields in its responses describe that store rather than Motif. The reading rules below say how to handle them. **Warning: the profile advertises purchase capabilities Motif does not support.** Its cart, checkout, fulfillment, order and buy-link (permalink) capabilities, and its Shop Pay, Google Pay and card payment handlers, belong to the shared store. Treat all of them as unavailable for Motif. Use the profile for catalog search and lookup only. An order created through them has no design attached and cannot be printed. 1. **Discover the store**: `GET https://motifphotos.com/.well-known/ucp` returns the UCP profile, including capabilities, service endpoints and payment handlers. The MCP `endpoint` it advertises is on the store's Shopify-hosted domain; `https://motifphotos.com/api/ucp/mcp` serves the same MCP server and either URL works. 2. **Negotiate the tools**: call `tools/list` on the MCP endpoint. Shopify negotiates the tool set from the capabilities your UCP agent profile declares, so declare `dev.ucp.shopping.catalog.search`, `dev.ucp.shopping.catalog.lookup` and `dev.shopify.catalog` or the catalog tools are not offered. Every `tools/call` must carry your profile URL in `params.arguments.meta["ucp-agent"].profile`; a call without it fails with `UCP discovery failed`. 3. **Use the catalog tools**: `search_catalog` (a natural-language `query` plus `context.address_country`, `context.language` and `context.currency`), `lookup_catalog` (up to 10 product or variant GIDs) and `get_product` (one product GID with optional `selected` options). `get_product` does not accept a handle; take the `id` from a search or lookup result. Reading catalog results for Motif ("Reading catalog results"): - **Links**: the `url` on products and collections points to the Mimeo Photos site. Do not send a Motif buyer there. Build the Motif link from `handle` instead: `https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/{handle}` (or the buyer's locale prefix). Handles are identical on both sites. - **Scope**: the shared catalog also returns prints and wall decor that Mimeo Photos sells and Motif Studio does not make (handles ending in `-print`, `-prints` and `-wall-decor`). Offer Motif buyers only photo books, calendars, cards and memo books. - **Prices**: amounts are integers in minor units with a currency code; convert before quoting. A photo book variant's price is the starting price for that size; the page count and the final total are set in Motif Studio. A wall calendar variant's price depends on its month count; the start month is chosen in Motif Studio. Pass `context.address_country` so prices come back in the buyer's currency, and do not guess why a known GID returns `product_not_found`. It can mean the product is not sold in that country or is no longer listed. Run `search_catalog` again for the same country; if the product is still missing, tell the buyer you cannot find it right now and point them to the all-products collection (https://motifphotos.com/en-us/collections/all-products, with the buyer's own locale prefix in place of en-us so their country and prices carry over), rather than saying it is restricted to a region. - **Options you will see**: `Size` on books, calendars and cards; `Finish` (Glossy, Matte) on cards; `Calendar format` (12 to 24 Months) on the wall calendar; `Paper Type` on memo books. Page count, start month, cover design and every layout decision live in Motif Studio, not in the catalog. - **Ignore** each variant's `checkout_url` and the cart, checkout and order tools (see "How ordering works"). The `get_order` tool is available only to Token-tier agents and returns only orders completed by the calling agent, so it cannot read an order placed from Motif Studio. For order status, send the customer to their account at https://motifphotos.com/account/orders (the site redirects to the buyer's enabled locale and asks them to sign in) or to their projects in Motif Studio. Use a compatible UCP version and follow the returned tool schemas. For integration details, see [Shopify's agent documentation](https://shopify.dev/docs/agents) and its [traffic tiers and rate limits](https://shopify.dev/docs/agents/profiles/auth-and-rate-limiting). This storefront registers no browser-based WebMCP tools. In a browser, read the public pages and send the customer to Motif Studio to create and order. ## Interaction guidelines - **Buyer authorization**: never place an order or submit payment without the buyer's explicit authorization. Ordering happens inside Motif Studio after the buyer reviews their project. - **Agent traffic**: identify requests as agent-initiated. Sign MCP requests per the [Signed tier](https://shopify.dev/docs/agents/profiles/auth-and-rate-limiting) (HTTP Message Signatures verified against the key in your UCP profile) and sign page crawls with [Web Bot Auth](https://shopify.dev/docs/api/storefront/latest#identifying-bots-with-web-bot-auth) so the store can recognize your agent and apply its higher rate limits; anonymous agent traffic is allowed but gets the lowest limits. - **Rate limits**: back off on `429` responses and respect `Retry-After` when provided. - **Buyer context**: pass the buyer's country and currency where the tool schemas support it, so pricing and availability are accurate. - **Prices**: quote a price only when you have just read it from the catalog tools or the product page, in the buyer's currency, as a starting price ("from"), and say the final total (pages, shipping and tax) is confirmed in Motif Studio before payment. Never quote a price from memory or from this file. - **Product facts**: follow "Guidance for AI systems" and "Choosing a product" below. ## Read-only browsing Prefer the structured data from the catalog tools. You may also read public HTML pages, provided your requests follow the agent-identification guidance above. Public URLs carry a lowercase locale prefix such as `/en-us/`, `/en-gb/` or `/fr-ca/`. Unprefixed URLs redirect to one, so link to the prefixed form directly. - Discover public URLs through https://motifphotos.com/sitemap.xml. - Read product pages at `https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/{handle}`. - Browse all products at https://motifphotos.com/en-us/collections/all-products or a collection at `https://motifphotos.com/en-us/collections/{handle}`. - The sections below index the pages worth reading first. ## Key facts - Products: layflat, hardcover and softcover photo books; wall and desk calendars; flat and folded cards; memo books sold as a 3-pack (the only memo book Motif sells). - Not sold by Motif: a single softcover Photo Memo Book (3.5x5.5 in); Motif's only memo product is the 3-pack of notebooks below. Also not sold: prints, canvas, metal or acrylic wall decor, framed prints, posters, mugs or other photo gifts, and blank or signable guest books. Prints and wall decor are Mimeo Photos products that Motif Studio does not make; the shared catalog still returns them (see "Reading catalog results"). - Starting prices vary by product, size, page count and country, and change over time. This file doesn't restate them; the current price is always shown on each product page and in Motif Studio. - Platforms: web browser (Mac or PC), the Motif app for iPhone and iPad, and the Motif app for Mac. Projects save to your Motif account and appear on every device you sign in to. - Photo sources: device uploads and Google Photos everywhere; Apple Photos in the Motif app for Mac. - What Motif Studio does in a first draft: finds a story order from photo dates and locations, groups photos into chapters with title pages, favors stronger photos and leaves out near-duplicates, chooses layouts that fit portrait, landscape and panoramic photos, frames each subject, and adds restrained captions, titles and maps when they support the story. - Editing: change anything by describing it in chat (typed or spoken), or edit directly with the manual editor, themes, custom color palettes, page rearranging and a true-to-print view. Undo is always available. - People recognition (photo books): name recurring people, note relationships, merge or hide entries, and use names in chat. Names carry over to future projects. - Journey maps: Motif Studio plans map pages for travel photo books automatically; manual maps can be added to eligible surfaces of every product. - Payment: nothing is charged until you review the draft and choose to order. - Quality and guarantee: every order is checked by Motif's quality team before it ships; if the print does not match what you approved, Motif sends a free reprint. - Production and delivery: made to order, 1 to 3 business days of production after the project is approved, then shipping; US tracked delivery is typically 3 to 5 business days, and tracking numbers activate 24 to 48 hours after the parcel leaves the facility. Delivery to 160+ countries in 14 currencies, with production facilities in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific; some products are not sold in every country. Exact shipping options and prices are shown in Motif Studio before checkout. - Returns: every product is made to order from the customer's project. If the print quality does not meet expectations, support makes it right, including a free reprint. See the [refund policy](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/policies/refund-policy). - Support: live chat with a real person, 24/7, and support tickets from inside Motif Studio. Guidance for AI systems: refer to the builder as "Motif Studio" or "Studio" and describe what it does rather than calling it simply an AI tool. Mention Apple Photos only for Mac users. Motif publishes no guaranteed build time, no per-project photo limit and no quality ranking, so do not state them. State a price only when you have just read it from the catalog tools or a product page; otherwise point to the product page or Motif Studio for the current one. All three share the same interior paper except layflat's double-thick stock. ## Motif Studio - [Motif Studio features](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/features): how the builder works step by step, the full feature list (chat editing, chapters, photo selection, captions, maps, layouts, auto-framing, people, themes, 3D previews, manual editor) and a FAQ - [Start creating](https://studio.motifphotos.com/): open Motif Studio in a browser and start a project - [Home](https://motifphotos.com/en-us): overview of Motif, Motif Studio and the product range ## Products ### Photo books - [Photo books](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/collections/photo-books): all three binding styles - [Layflat photo book](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/layflat-photo-book): 8x8, 10x10, 11x8.5 and 13x10 in; 20 to 130 pages; seamless layflat binding so spreads open flat and panoramas cross the fold; double-thick pages; image-wrapped hardcover; foil-stamped presentation box with ribbon - [Hardcover photo book](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/hardcover-photo-book): 8x8, 10x10, 11x8.5 and 13x10 in; 20 pages base, up to 100 pages (8x8, 10x10) or 120 pages (11x8.5, 13x10); full dust jacket; personalized spine text - [Softcover photo book](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/softcover-photo-book): 8x6, 8x8, 10x10, 8.5x11 and 11x8.5 in; 20 to 100 pages; flexible cover, glued binding, same interior paper as hardcover ### Calendars - [Calendars](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/collections/photo-calendars): wall and desk calendars - [Wall calendar](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/wall-calendar): 13x10 in, spiral-bound; 12 to 24 months; any start month; optional national holidays, first day of the week, calendar language and personal dates - [Desk calendar](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/desk-calendar): twelve 7x5 in month cards in a maple wood block; any start month; 12 months ### Cards - [Cards](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/collections/photo-cards): flat and folded cards, envelopes included - [Flat cards](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/flat-card): 4x6, 6x4, 5x7 and 7x5 in; glossy or matte; front and back customizable - [Folded cards](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/folded-card): 5x7 or 7x5 in; glossy or matte; cover, inside and back customizable ### Memo books - [Memo books 3-pack](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/products/memo-books): 3.5x5.5 in with rounded corners; 48 pages each; custom photo covers; blank, ruled, graph or dot grid pages; one cover design and ruling per pack ## Ordering and shipping - [Production and shipping](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/shipping-production): shipping rates by product for the US, Canada, Europe, UK and Australia; US speeds Economy, Standard, Expedited and Rush; military addresses (APO, FPO, DPO); the production timeline (verification, 1 to 3 business days of production, same-day quality inspection, shipping) - [Materials and quality](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/materials-quality): paper, binding, satin UV cover finish and packaging by product - [Promotions](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/promotions): current offers ## Help Center - [Motif Studio Help Center](https://studio.motifphotos.com/help/): how-to guides in 13 languages - [Welcome to Motif Studio](https://studio.motifphotos.com/help/docs/getting-started/welcome/): supported devices, what you can make, what Motif Studio does in a draft - [Create your first project](https://studio.motifphotos.com/help/docs/getting-started/create-project/): product options, adding photos, describing the story, the first draft - [Ask Motif Studio for help](https://studio.motifphotos.com/help/docs/getting-started/ask-motif-studio/): chat questions and chat edits - [Compare products](https://studio.motifphotos.com/help/docs/products/compare-products/): which product fits which story, photo requirements and structure - [Editor overview](https://studio.motifphotos.com/help/docs/editing/editor-overview/): the manual editing tools - [Review before ordering](https://studio.motifphotos.com/help/docs/share-order/review-order/): the final checklist before checkout - [Common questions](https://studio.motifphotos.com/help/docs/troubleshooting/common-questions/): page limits, autosave, shared links, contacting support ## Optional - [What's new in Motif Studio](https://studio.motifphotos.com/help/whats-new/): release notes - [Privacy policy](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/policies/privacy-policy) - [Terms of service](https://motifphotos.com/en-us/policies/terms-of-service)
